Centre of HOPE - ICoH Bangalore
The following factories at Bangalore
were surveyed before the centre was established in
Bangalore: Texport Sydicate, GRV International, Leela
Scottish PVT Ltd, Prisco International. After meeting the
factory officials as well as the workers, a nearby village
called Goruguntepalya was identified as location for the
Industrial Centre of HOPE-Bangalore.
Following a survey in the village, it was identified that
many of residents, who were primarily factory workers were
interested in learning computers. But a more glaring need
of the residents was a tuition centre for their children.
The parents were united in their demand for a tuition
centre for children as it would go a long way in
fashioning a great future for their children.
For the tuition centre, the head mistress of the local
government school was really happy in collaborating with
us. The school has provided three classrooms to conduct
tuitions for the children. The tuition center consists of
196 children from 5th to 7th standard.
A number of young people in the village were also excited
to learn spoken English, as they felt that would give them
the edge to get better jobs. We have a class room set for
them and have 8 students admitted for this batch. Many
more have shown interest.
While doing the survey we also found many of the youth
working in the garment factories showing keen interest to
learn computers. We have 28 students admitted for the
computer training.
